What Is The Gospel?

The signs of wars, pestilences, crime, and hatred are all around us! We are surely living in the last days, and soon and very soon Jesus would come the second time. There are many professed Christians today who claim that the law of God is no longer binding. “Those were the relics of the Jews”, some still claim. Would God abolish His eternal law in the end time? Does it have any significance to God’s last day people? As we go through this short study we would discover what is the Gospel that would be preached. We can ask ourselves two important questions; one, what gospel would be preached Just before the end of the world? and, two, what are the characteristics of those carrying this gospel?

What does the word “Gospel” Mean?

  1. good message
  2. Good News

Mat 24:14  And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

What is the difference between “A” Gospel and “This” Gospel?

  1. “A” does not refer to something specific
  2. “This” refers to something very specific.

Note: When “This” gospel is preached, “The end shall come”. So this verse is telling us that there is a final good news that is to be preached before the final close of this dark and sinful world.

What if any other Gospel is preached apart from “This” Gospel?

“I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another[different] gospel: 7  Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. 8  But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.[excommunicated or ban] 9  As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.” Galations 1:6-9

Answer: The bible says, “let him be accursed” or excommunicated or banned who preach another gospel. For every time throuighout history, God has given a present truth or message that his people must carry to the world. Noah preached for 120 years, and specific present gospel for a specific time, “Get into the ark!”. But as we know today, there are many other gospels right now that is preached. Is there a way we can know for a fact that there is a specific Gospel? Continue to keep in mind one important thing, when this present good news is preached, then the end of the world would come.

What is the right Gospel for this time?

“And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, 7  Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters. 8  And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication. 9  And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, 10  The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: 11  And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.” Revelation 14:6-11

Answer: The everlasting Gospel, or in other words the three angel messages. We know that revelation is a book that it is written in symbols according to (rev 1:1) when he sent and signified it (put into symbols). As we read many instances in revelation we know that there is symbolic language and we must de-code this language to have a correct understanding of the prophecies contained in the book.

But this Gospel is not preached by human beings but by angels, you may claim.

What are angels in symbolic prophecy?

Gal 4:14  And my temptation which was in my flesh ye despised not, nor rejected; but received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus.

Answer: Note that Paul is writing to the Galatians, and he is telling them to receive him as an angel of God. The word angel simply means, a minister or messenger. In other words, Paul is saying to receive him as a minister or messenger from God. Those three angels who are proclaiming this everlasting gospel are merely simple human agents of God.

How do we know that these three angel messages are the right Gospel?

Answer: We know one characteristic that the end of the world must directly follow.

Does the end of the world come after this everlasting gospel is proclaimed?

“And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle. 15  And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe.” Revelation 14:14-15

What does the harvest represent?

“The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one; 39  The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.” Matthew 13:38-39

Answer: The harvest is the end of the world. We see clearly that after these three angel messages or everlasting gospel is proclaimed, the end of the world will come.

What is the character of Gods last day people who also will proclaim his gospel?

“Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.” Revelation 14:12

In John’s prophecy given by Christ over 2000 years ago, he looks down in time and sees the last day people of God keeping all the commandments of God including the fourth commandment “to keep the sabbath (7th Day) holy” found in (exodus 20:8-11), and the faith of Jesus. The 10 commandments are basically a transcript of God’s character. Those people would be reflecting the Character of God fully. In these last days, Satan is making many believe that God’s commandments are not important, and it is just a dead letter. Is your calling and election sure today? Are all of God’s commandments written in your heart? Are you surrendering all to Jesus Christ, that He may be the sovereign reign over your life?  John also says in  Rev 22:14, ” Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.”
