“And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.” Acts 1:9-11
Answer: The same way Jesus was taken up into heaven, is the same way he will be coming again the second time. This was a visual experience to the disciples when he was taken up into the sky and received by the cloud. It shall also be visual to us when he returns!
Who will be able to see Christ when he returns?
“Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him:” Revelation 1:7 “For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.” Matthew 24:27
Answer: There is nothing secret about the Coming of Christ, It is promised that every eye shall see him. Whatever part of the globe we are on, we too will all be able to see Christ when he returns. What a grand event this will be!
Who will come with Jesus when he returns a second time?
“When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:” Matt 25:31 “…when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.” Mark 8:38
Answer: The holy angels!
What are they coming for?
“And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.” Matthew 24:31 “And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven.” Mark 13:27
Answer: They are coming to gather together all of God’s people, His elect throughout the earth
Where will God’s people meet Him when He comes?
“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.” 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
Answer: It is promised that we shall meet Him in the air!
Note: This means then; at the second coming of Christ, He will not set foot upon this earth, but will remain in the sky. Christ’s coming will also be audible “descend from heaven with a shout”. He is coming this time as a King not to set foot on this earth but to claim his People, that they may live in eternity with him.
What would be the results of the wicked people at Jesus’ Coming?
“And the slain of the LORD shall be at that day from one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth:” Jeremiah 25:33 “and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.” Isaiah 11:4
Answer: The wicked shall be slain!
What question did Peter ask concerning character before Christ coming?
“Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness” 2 Peter 3:11
Answer: Knowing the nearness of his coming, what manner of persons ought we to be?
What was the answer given to the description of those awaiting the Coming of Christ?
“Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. “2 Peter 3:14
Answer: Peaceful, without spot, and blameless.
Christ is coming back for a righteous people without spot and blameless to claim as his own. Are we still harboring sin within our hearts? It is written “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. “ Romans 6:23. The end result of sin is death, but Christ wants us to receive life, eternal life through Jesus. Let us ask him for strength today that we may have victory over every bad habit, temptation or trial in our lives. In the book of Jude 24 it reads “Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy.” Christ is always there to help us, and even now we can pray this promise, that he is able to keep us from falling and present us faultless.
